Ethicon Prolene Mesh is a non-absorbable polypropylene surgical mesh used mainly for hernia repair and soft tissue reinforcement. It provides long-term support and allows tissue in-growth. While effective, it carries risks like infection or chronic pain. It’s not recommended for transvaginal use due to safety concerns.

COVIDIEN Dextile™ Anatomical Mesh (XL Right, 16×12 cm) is a pre-shaped, 3D anatomical polypropylene mesh designed specifically for right-side inguinal hernia repair. It is non-absorbable, made of monofilament polypropylene with large macropores to promote tissue integration and easy intraoperative visualization. The mesh retains its shape during trocar passage, provides wide myopectineal coverage, and includes a green medial line marker for correct orientation. Supplied sterile for single use, it is FDA 510(k) cleared and intended for laparoscopic or robotic inguinal hernia repair (TAPP/TEP).

The Covidien Parietex™ Optimized Composite Mesh (PCO12FX) is a 12 cm round, sterile surgical mesh designed for intraperitoneal use in open or laparoscopic ventral and incisional hernia repairs. It features a dual-layer construction: a non-absorbable polyester knit side that encourages tissue integration, and a resorbable hydrophilic collagen film on the opposite side that helps reduce adhesion to internal organs. The mesh includes a proprietary “X-stitch” textile pattern for improved visibility, strength, and suture retention. It is latex-free and compatible with suture or tack fixation methods. COVIDIEN ProGrip Self-Gripping Polyester Mesh is a synthetic surgical mesh made of monofilament polyester with resorbable polylactic acid (PLA) micro-grips that provide immediate self-fixation without sutures, tacks, or glue. Its macroporous design allows tissue ingrowth for long-term reinforcement. The mesh is mainly used for inguinal and ventral/incisional hernia repair and suture line reinforcement. Benefits include faster surgery, reduced need for fixation devices, less postoperative pain, and uniform tension distribution. It comes in flat sheet and anatomical shapes for different surgical needs.
